The Fibersystem Bidirectional Data Diode provides secure two-way communication using a fully hardware-based design that removes any risk of data flowing in the wrong direction. Fiber-optic galvanic separation ensures strong protection between networks, while the system supports protocols such as Syslog, NTP Broadcast, SNMP traps and UDP in all modes. Designed as a 1 HU 19" rack unit with 1 Gbit/s performance, it offers both fiber and copper connectivity, redundant hot-swappable power supplies, and a tamper-protected enclosure with no crosstalk. The bidirectional design uses completely isolated send and receive nodes, enabling secure data transfer over fiber or copper in either direction without the need for external converters.

Use case

A standard application for the bidirectional data diode is when you have for example an industrial plant where you have sensors which give you information to be displayed in a control room. The control room also wants to control certain valves in the plant. In order to minimize the risk, you place a bidirectional data diode which lets sensor data go in one direction from the plant to the control room and valve control to go in one direction from the control room to the plant.
