How it works
A protected environment feeds something outside it — a monitoring screen, a shared display — without any path back.
The image path and the touch path are different
A screen’s picture can arrive through a diode while its touch panel runs a USB cable straight back into a domain. The two are separate decisions and only one of them is usually made.
A tap is not a connection
A one-way network tap duplicates traffic to a monitoring port and cannot inject anything back into the link. Port mirroring in a switch is not the same thing: the switch drops mirrored traffic under load, and is itself a configurable device.
